About our club

About us

Kinross Flower Club was founded in 1971 by Mrs Chris Renton.  She was a very enthusiastic flower arranger who started the club to get others in the Kinross area involved in the world of flowers.  Each year at our AGM club members can compete for the Renton Trophy with the members who don’t enter selecting the winner.

Our meeting venue is The Millbridge Hall, Kinross and it is proving to be an excellent place to have our meetings. At each demonstration we have a raffle for each of the arrangements created by the demonstrator.  You could go home with a beautiful arramgement!

The club is affiliated to the Scottish Association for Flower Arrangement Societies, SAFAS, which is one of twenty one Areas affiliated to the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies, NAFAS. These 2 associations provide us with information on all that is happening in our field eg Flower Shows, Club anniversaries, Training days, Workshops, Competitions, Demonstrator and Judging courses available to all members.  They also provide us with information of any discounts or benefits we can receive as members.

Club Membership costs £30.00 plus £1.00 every meeting you attend.  Visitors pay £8.00 per meeting and £10 for our coffee afternoons.  The only meeting visitors  are excluded from is the Member’s Only meeting in January.  This meeting is for members to try arranging flowers themselves or just to enjoy a chat with a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of cake.  We also play a few quizzes and trivia games.  This is really where the Fun, Friendship and Flowers happens.

We have 2 coffee afternoons, one in November and one in April.  We have a tombola stall and sometimes a sales table with craft items or plants donated by members to help with your plant collection in your garden.

We have an 8 member committee at the moment chaired by Christine MacAlpine and they work really hard to produce meetings that we can all enjoy, where would we be without them!

Please come and join us for any meeting, visitors are always welcome and who knows you may be inspired to join the club and take up a hobby which will give you years of enjoyment through Flowers.

This year the club entered the Gardening Scotland Competition at Ingliston again and won a Gold Medal, again!!  One of only 3 awarded this year, a great achievement for Pamela Galloway and Christine MacAlpine who represented the club with their design depicting a Dutch Flemish flower painting.
